Variable lease lengths, conditions, and contract types; combined with the need to account for fluctuating term fees like tenant water and electric usage, or freight volume—meant Port NOLA had a multitude of complicated billing and accounting processes they relied onto produce quotes, or record and invoice clients.
From detailed calculations with recurring charges, to ensuring monthly invoice revenue recognition included and accurately reflected longer term leases; even creating new agreements and monitoring changes—information was tracked and compiled using spreadsheets or manual input—meaning their processes were prone to human error and incomplete information.
